Pricing in short#

OpenCommit is a non-profit, EU-based home for open source. Public open source repositories are free and unlimited. For businesses that also need private or closed-source repositories, we offer them for a modest co-op-style fee: €1 per private repository, sold in blocks of 10 — no per-seat pricing, no feature walls.

Public repositories and the incidental private repositories described in TOS §3.4 do not count against your block.

Fair use & storage#

A flat €1 per repository stays simple only if repositories stay reasonably sized. To keep the shared cluster healthy, each subscription has a clear storage allowance:

• 25 GB (Git + LFS) per block
  each additional block adds another 25 GB;
• Max 4 GB per private repository
  above that by arrangement only, just ask;
• Public repos, incidental private repos (TOS §3.4), packages / container images (subject to generic fair use) and Actions logs do not currently count against the allowance.

If you exceed the allowance, we’ll notify you and give 30 days to trim, add a block, or make the repository public before we restrict it (TOS §3.2).

If you expect to need more, contact us first — reasonable exceptions are welcome.

Who can subscribe#

Subscriptions are offered to legal entities acting in the course of their activities: companies, non-commercial organizations (associations, foundations, NGOs), and sole proprietors / freelancers.

They are currently not available for personal, non-business use (TOS §7) for legal reasons.

How to subscribe#

Subscriptions are activated with a little human help.

Email support@opencommit.eu (general questions: hello@opencommit.eu) with:

1. Your business’s legal name and your OpenCommit organization name;
2. Your Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number;
3. Your EU VAT number (required for EU customers);
4. Number of blocks (10, 20, 30, …) and billing interval (monthly or annual).

Once your details are confirmed, you’ll receive a payment link. Your subscription activates when the first payment succeeds, and we’ll confirm your block count and the account(s) it applies to.

Payments, billing & VAT#

• Fees are billed in advance and renew automatically until cancelled.
  Cancel before the renewal date for the cancellation to take effect at the end of the current billing period; payments are non-refundable except where required by law (TOS §7.1).
• EU customers: the reverse charge applies.
  We charge no VAT, you account for it yourself.
  A valid EU VAT number (validated via VIES) is required.
• Customers established in the Netherlands: for domestic supplies the reverse charge does not apply, so Dutch VAT (21%) is added to the fee.
• Non-EU customers: no EU VAT is charged; consider any local rules on your side.
• Payments are processed securely through our payment provider; we do not store card numbers on our servers.
• Revenue from subscriptions directly supports the operation of the platform and the OpenCommit Foundation.

FAQ#

• Which repositories count against my block?
  All private repositories owned by the subscribed account.
  Public and incidental private repos (TOS §3.4) do not count.
• Do public repositories cost anything?
  No, public open source repositories remain free.
• Can I buy more blocks later?
  Yes, at the same €1-per-repository rate — start small and grow.
• Can I subscribe for personal / private use?
  No. Subscriptions are for legal entities acting in the course of their activities.
  For personal use, keep repositories public or host them elsewhere.
• What happens if I go over my block or storage allowance?
  You get notice and 30 days to trim, add a block, or make the repository(s) public.

  No SLA at this price point.
  Public community support for everyone, plus best-effort email help from our volunteer-run foundation.
